Patron – President Nelson Mandela of South Africa
In his early days, President Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist in South Africa. In 1962 he was arrested, tried and found guilty, on charges including sabotage. As a result of this he spent 27 years in prison. On his release in February 1990, he led his party in talks to secure a multi-racial democracy. He served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
He offered to be Patron of eRanger and eRanger South Africa was launched at his house in Qunu, Eastern Cape.
Sponsor – HRH Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz
HRH Prince Bandar is the son of the late Crown Prince of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz. After schooling in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1967 he became a student at the RAF College Cranwell, England, before going to the USA for further training. He served in The Royal Saudi Air Force for 17 years, mainly as a fighter pilot and later as a Squadron Commander.
In his diplomatic career he has been Saudi Ambassador to the USA for 22 years (1983-2005), and is currently the Head of Intelligence and The Secretary General of The National Security Council of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
HRH Prince Bandar has given unstinting support since the very beginning, both spiritually and financially, to the eRanger project.
Chairman – Robert Deacon Elliott
After attending school in the USA and England, where he enjoyed playing Rugby and Squash, Robert Deacon Elliott served as a pilot and instructor with the Royal Air Force and British Aerospace from 1967 to 1990. During this time, amongst other assignments, he completed tours in the Sultanate of Oman and The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and flew a total of around six thousand missions in various aircraft types and roles.
In 1992 he gained his Airline Transport Pilots Licence, and is a member of The Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators.
Thereafter, he went into business, and has mainly been involved in the construction and operation of VVIP aircraft, maritime projects and the foundation and development of eRanger.
He now lives in Dubai and his interests include motor cars, people, travel, trying to solve crossword puzzles, and watching sport.
Managing Director UK - Mike Norman
Founder and designer of the eRanger concept, Mike has over 40 years experience in the motor and motorcycle industry.
A former motorcycle racer and bike designer, Mike continued his keen passion for motorcycles by developing an appropriate vehicle to help people less fortunate.
Mike's interests include following Formula 1 and Moto GP, Travel, meeting interesting people, and riding his motorcycle.
Managing Director South Africa - Brian Harmse
Qualified in Aero-Nautical Industry as an artisan. He went on to study engineering. Became a Senior Design Engineer at Mercedes Benz South Africa. He entered into private business in 2000 when he purchased Fabkomp
Currently a Director in many companies and oversees the management and operations of The Ranger Production Company SA
Brian enjoys surfing with his boys and travelling through Africa
Production Manager South Africa - Riaan Swanepoel
Completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 2003. Worked a couple of years in the Retail Industry
Joined the team at Ranger in 2008. Manages the factory and daily activities
Development - Ian Avery
Ian worked for IBM (UK) Ltd for over 30 years retiring in 2005.
During his time with IBM Ian held many Managerial positions and latterly undertook Sales Executive roles working with major international financial institutions.
He joined the Ranger team in January 2006 with responsibility for growing the awareness of the eRanger motor cycles and the benefits they bring to Sub Saharan countries and other developing countries worldwide.
Ian's interests include Music, Travel, Sport and supporting Leeds United Footbal Club.
The South Africa Factory Team
These are the hard working people who make up the team supporting eRangers in the field as well as building the Ambulances, Mobile Clinics and Education Units at our factory in King Williams Town.
Advocacy Champion - Pete Sonderskov
Pete has worked with eRanger for over 10 years. He has oganised many events, including exhibiting the eRanger at The House of Commons, as well as help develop the brand. His role today is to seek and secure advocacy from organisations.
In the past, he has worked for The Economist and now runs his own company Rock Solid Solutions.
