... the eRanger has developed into a mature and functional vehicle used in a dozen countries cross the world, mostly in sub Saharan Africa.
All these years later the story has come full circle as the the eRanger appears on Blue Peter.
May 6 2009 - Arriving early enough to give Andy a quick training session Mike Norman went on to supervise the dramatic entrance into the Blue Peter studio, as Andy drove the eRanger towards the rolling cameras for the first time. With Mike's experience of training riders working for NGO's around the world – Andy was in good hands.
Helen bravely lay in the sidecar illustrating the position a patient would take while being transported to hospital from a remote village clinic. More used to running marathons in Namibia and London she was pleased to be getting the rest - though a bit nervous to be driven by Andy.
All went well as Helen was delivered safely into the studio as Andy drove magnificently.
Many hundreds of pregnat women are delivered to hospitals by eRangers each year, many thousands fail to get to a hospital in time to save their lives or those of their children. Without adequate transport this will continue to happen.
